The Auckland Regional Public Health Service said one man was contaminated with measles during flight NZ674, which left Dunedin at 2:50 pm last Tuesday.

According to Dr. Maria Poynter, anyone at Dunedin or Auckland's domestic terminals at approximately the time of the flight, and not just other pbadengers, should monitor the signs of measles.

Symptoms include high fever, runny nose, cough, sore red eyes and a rash that starts on the face and neck before spreading to the rest of the body.

"You are at higher risk if you are not immunized against measles, either because you have not been vaccinated or because you have not had the disease before.

People who are not immune can begin to feel symptoms in the next week, "she said.

There are now nearly 300 cases of measles in Auckland – including one inmate at the Mt Eden stop.
