The British pop-synth duo Pet Shop Boys is back with a new single that mocks Michael Gove and Donald Trump.
Entitled Let's give a chance to stupidity, the optimistic song is deeply ironic, it calls for a world devoted to egocentrism and not obstructed by the politically correct.
A song sung by Neil Tennant expresses as follows: "Smart people have had their say / It's time for fools to show the way … We've had enough of experts and their relationships / Why face the facts when can we cope with feelings? "This is a summary of Gove's infamous statement before the Brexit vote that" the citizens of this country are fed up with experts ".
In the eighth middle of the song, Tennant sings: "The girls are always ready to play / You must take everything you can / We need a leader who knows that money is synonymous with clbad / With an eye for a perfect donkey like a peach "- a sneaky reference to Donald Trump, who told TV host Billy Bush that, when he met women, he was felt able to "seize them by the cat" and who was accused of numerous charges of badual misconduct.
According to another lyrical, "instead of governing with thoughtful sensitivity / let the shock and fear to the world with silly fanaticism", a reference to the tactics of "shock and fear" of the US military, especially when of the invasion of Iraq in 2003.
The Pet Shop Boys did not hesitate to play politics in their career, which began in 1984 with their single No 1 West End Girls. Their equally ironic 1985 single, Let's Make Lots of Money (Let's Make Lots of Money), satirized the personal interest of the Thatcher years, while their takeover of Go West in 1993 implicitly defended the rights of homobaduals. They then pressured David Cameron to forgive Alan Turing, the hero of the Second World War who was sued for his homobaduality in the 1950s.
Their 2006 song, I'm With Stupid was a veiled attack on Tony Blair and George Bush, and the UK's "special relationship" with the United States. He understood the words, "Is stupid really stupid or is he different? / Do we really have such a special relationship in your heart? "
Integral, of the same year, was a critic of government oversight and Blair's proposed national identity card system. A spokesman for the group said Tennant had given up his Labor status for the issue.
Their latest studio album was Super in 2016. The duo has recently released remastered versions of its catalog.
