Mali's logistics hub to fuel trade in West Africa with simplified procedures and paperless transactions
DP World (web.DPWorld.com) signed a 20-year concession with an extension automatic 20 years with the Republic of Mali to build and operate a modern logistics center of 1000 hectares outside Bamako, the capital and the largest city of Mali. The Mali Logistics Hub will be located on the main road from Dakar, Senegal to Bamako and close to the Dakar – Bamako railway line and will be able to process 300,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent), 4 million tonnes of bulk and general cargo. The first phase of the project, with an initial investment estimated at $ 50 million, will support the growth of the Malian economy by streamlining the import and export of goods. Construction is expected to begin in 2019 and last approximately 18 months.
