The launch, scheduled for March 15 at the sports stadium in Accra, will also be attended by other personalities from the sports fraternity.

This will be the second time that a senior government official launches the contest after its previous launch by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2017.

The fastest GNPC men in Ghana is an annual sprint competition to find sprint kings and queens to represent Ghana at the next Olympic Games.

Already, the competition has brought to light talents such as Hor Halutie, Desmond Aryee and Edwin Gadayi, among others, who have all competed in various competitions, including the Commonwealth Games in Australia last year.

The founding President of the competition, Reks Brobby, thanked the Vice President for agreeing to launch the competition, noting that "we are very grateful for the support and approval".

He was considering a more exciting but more exciting competition this season, with auditions for the finalists scheduled to begin in April.

Brobby, who participated in the 4x100m relay at the 1984 Olympics, said he was convinced that the country still has many talents still to be discovered. He promised to ensure that all potential sprinters are unearthed and skin-deep.

The former Ghanaian sprinter, who started the seven-year talent hunt in 2013, expressed his satisfaction for what he had achieved so far, while remaining confident that he was about to produce sprinters for the 2020 Olympics.
