Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia will inform the country of the economic benefits obtained by the Akufo-Addo administration since coming to power almost three years ago.

It should also inform the country of the current state of Ghana's cedi and its plans for the future.

The updates are scheduled for April 3, 2019, when the Government Economic Management Team chaired by Dr. Bawumia will meet in turn at the 2019 TownHall Town Hall Meetings of the Ministry of Information.

Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah told the media in Accra on Wednesday that the purpose of the town hall meetings was to bring the government closer to the people and, as a result, state actors such as ministers, MDCEs and agency heads report to those who will also have the opportunity to ask questions and contribute to the governance of Ghana.

The theme of this year's meeting with DGN Online is "Our Progress, Our Status, Our Future" and the Vice President would update the country to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Accra.

According to the Information Minister, the meetings would begin in March 2019 with this year's inaugural edition at the Datus Complex School in Kasoa.

He said the town halls represented a major shift in government policy to make information easily accessible and usable by Ghanaians inside and outside the country.

The third city council, he said, will be headed by the majority leader and minister of parliamentary affairs at the Dominion Center in north London.

Ghanaians in the diaspora will have the opportunity to obtain first-hand information on governance in Ghana and to contribute, adding that there will be a total of 24 public meetings this year.
