On July 25, American rapper DaBaby performed at the Rolling Loud Festival where he launched a homophobic rant where he asked his fans to turn on the flashlights on their phones if they “didn’t show up today.” hui with HIV / AIDS or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that will have you dead in two to three weeks. The 29-year-old rapper went on to make several other reprehensible statements about HIV / AIDS and the LGBTQ + community .
Following a major backlash, DaBaby then posted a series of statements on Twitter, attempting to retract and talk about race. “Anyone who has ever been affected by AIDS / HIV has a right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intention of offending anyone. So my apologies, hands joined, ”he wrote.

Since the controversial appearance, celebrities like Dua Lipa, Demi Lovato, Indya Moore and Elton John have denounced his homophobic statements on social media.
“I’m surprised and horrified by DaBaby’s comments,” Lipa wrote on her Instagram story. “I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart is and that I am 100% with the LGBTQ community. We must unite to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV / AIDS.
Demi Lovato shared a replay of an Instagram post tagged by Matt Bernstein’s DaBaby, with “HIV is not a gay disease” written on a chest.
Elton John released a statement criticizing the rapper. “We were shocked to read the misinformation about HIV and the homophobic statements made on a recent DaBaby show. It fuels stigma and discrimination and is the opposite of what our world needs to fight the AIDS epidemic, ”read one of his five tweets on the subject.
