DURHAM, NC (WNCN) – Health officials in Durham County say people may have been exposed to measles in a coffee shop on Monday.
The Durham County Public Health Department said Saturday that it was informing the public "out of caution".
Until now, there is no confirmed case of measles active in North Carolina.
However, a possible "could have been contagious" case at Bean Traders at 105 West N.C. 54 between 10:00 and 13:30. Monday.
"There is no permanent risk to the public who has visited or wants to visit Bean Traders outside of this period," said a health department press release.
Measles is a highly contagious disease that is spread by coughing, sneezing and contact with the secretions of the nose, mouth and throat of an infected person.
Officials stated that if you had not been vaccinated against measles, if you were immunocompromised or if you were pregnant and if you were at Bean Traders during this period, please call the County Public Health Department. Durham at 919-560-HELP.
