M&S Egg-Plant Vegan Egg, £ 5.50

Can’t say I’ve had an Eggplant Easter Egg before, so it earns points for the fun, quirky shape. And then it goes down a bit. The texture is a bit grainy and much sweeter than I would like for a dark chocolate egg. 2/5

Sainsbury’s Cocoa & Co Dark Chocolate Sparkling Egg, £ 8.50

Beautiful to watch. I love the texture and the golden reflections of the case. It has a good snap and is nice and thick. It’s an egg that I could work on steadily in an afternoon. Some dark chocolate eggs can be too intense and bitter, but it just has the right amount of sweetness with fruity undertones. 4/5

I am a fan of white chocolate and it really struck you. It’s super creamy and not too sweet, which a lot of white chocolate can be. And the freeze-dried strawberries add a bit of sharpness to balance it out. 4/5

It’s the perfect egg for hardcore dark chocolate lovers. It’s beautifully rich and smooth with good pressure. It’s not something you can eat all at once, but it’s not a bad thing. It comes with solid dark chocolate mini eggs, but I wish they had something else to mix in a bit like a truffle or a little sea salt. 4/5

Quite impressed with the thickness of this egg. I’m not crazy about gin in my chocolate and it got a bit sickly after a few bites. The little buttons inside were cute and the flavor of the gin came out well, but it’s just not my cup of tea. 2/5

The Chocolate Society Blonde Tea & Biscuit egg, £ 29.95

Quite special! Absolutely beautiful to watch with incredible shine and the most complex tasting of all eggs. It has the perfect level of sweetness with rich, malty undertones followed by citrus floral notes of bergamot. The crunchy little balls embedded in the shell were a wonderful surprise and provided a nice texture. I would love this as a chocolate bar so I can have it all year round. 5/5

Love Cocoa Prosecco Egg, £ 35

This egg is huge! It would be an awesome gift. The milk chocolate is good and creamy and the prosecco is not too potent. There are some popping candies in the shell which took me by surprise as they are not mentioned anywhere. It was fun for the first few bites but quickly gets a bit irritating. 3/5
