The Ghana Police Service is set to beef up security during the Easter holidays by reminding the public of the ban on public gatherings.
Christendom will celebrate Easter from Friday April 2 to Monday April 5 across the world, which is characterized primarily by religious activities and entertainment events.
A statement signed by Police Superintendent Sheilla Kessie Abayie-Buckman said the move was intended to ensure that the Covid-19 protocol and restrictions imposed by President Akufo-Addo were not violated in the middle of the party.
He therefore calls on the general public to respect the Covid-19 restrictions imposed by the President, because the police will apply them strictly.
Police reminded churches, mosques and religious organizations to hold services no later than two hours, implementing a mandatory one-meter rule of social distancing between worshipers and ensuring that every congregation wears a mask at any time.
They are also reminded that they should make available to all persons hand washing facilities and alcohol-based disinfectants.
Police said they should again “keep a register of the names and contact details of all worshipers; and ensure that the place of worship has ventilation to fresh air, rather than relying on the use of air conditioners. “
The police administration encourages the public to remain vigilant and to report all criminal activity to the nearest police station.
In the event of a criminal emergency, the public is encouraged to contact them on 0550323323 or 0275000156 and toll-free numbers 18555, 191 or 112.
