At least two people were injured in Nuaso, in the eastern region, following a protest against an irregular electricity supply that became bloody.
Witnesses said protesters, mainly from Nuaso Township, marched on Wednesday night to Somanya to attack the PDS office, which serves the cities in the region.
But the police got wind of the demonstration and stopped them at the Somanya roundabout where they blocked roads and burned tires.
Protesters, unhappy with the "interference" of the police, repressed their anger against the police by throwing stones and other objects at them.
In order to defend themselves, the men in black opened fire.
Two people were shot and were taken to hospital, reported Kofi Siaw of Joy News.
One of them was transferred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
What is the state of the energy situation?
The inhabitants of the Krobo enclave told Joy News that their power was extinguished for three consecutive days.
By the time the press team visited the area, there was no electricity.
However, Joy News is unable to confirm the cause of the breakdowns, residents suspecting that their case is different from that the problem facing the rest of the country.
Siaw said the residents also did not want to pay for electricity because, according to them, the Volta River Authority (VRA) had acquired their land for the power plant.
We can not confirm if this is the cause of the power outage, the reporter said.
Security has been strengthened in the region.
Power cuts across the country
Meanwhile, the capital, Accra and other major cities in the country continue to experience severe and prolonged power outages.
The government stated that the problem was related todelay in fuel delivery power plants among other factors. "
