The study found that the "sugar rush" was not a reality, and that eating sugar aggravates your mood rather than improving it.
Researchers from the University of Warwick, Humboldt University and Lancaster University have decided to break the myth of the "sugar rush".
The team collected data from 31 studies of nearly 1,300 adults on the effects of sugar on various moods, including anger, alertness, depression, and fatigue.
Their badysis revealed that sugar consumption had virtually no effect on mood, regardless of the amount of sugar consumed by participants.
In contrast, sugar users felt more tired and less alert than those who did not eat them.
Dr. Konstantinos Mantantzis, who led the study, said, "The idea that sugar can improve mood has had a great impact on popular culture, so much so that people around the world are consuming sweetened beverages to become more popular. alerts or fight fatigue.
"Our results very clearly indicate that such claims are not justified – sugar could even make you feel worse."
