The number of Ebola victims in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has risen to 610 since the start of the epidemic in late July, the country's health ministry said on Monday.
According to the ministry, of the 1,082 reported cases of haemorrhagic fever, 1,016 were confirmed.
In total, 75 people still benefit from treatment for the disease, while 331 are cured of the virus in this country of Central Africa.
Some 66 people died from haemorrhagic fever, but it was not possible to determine if they had died from the Ebola virus.
A total of 93,613 people were vaccinated against the Ebola virus in the country as part of a campaign that began on August 8th.
Ebola – a tropical fever that appeared in Sudan and DRC in 1976 – can be transmitted to humans by wild animals.
It could also spread through contact with the body fluids of infected people or people who have succumbed to the virus.
The Ebola virus set off a global alarm in 2014 when the world's worst epidemic broke out in West Africa, killing more than 11,300 people and 28,600 people, while crossing Liberia, the United States. Guinea and Sierra Leone.
