Deputy Secretary General of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Peter Otokunor called the Election Commission (EC) invitation to discuss issues relating to the 2020 elections unethical.
“We received the invitation letter to IPAC, which is a bit surprising as we did not expect the EC to have the boldness or the temerity to invite us to discuss the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections. in particular, because they failed in their responsibility to defend what they treated in 2020 as an election to the Supreme Court, ”he said.
His comment comes after the NDC rejected participation in the meeting of the All-Party Consultative Committee (IPAC) that was scheduled for Wednesday, April 21, 2021, with the aim of reviewing the 2020 parliamentary and presidential elections.
Talk on Joy FM On Wednesday, Mr Otokunor said the party saw no reason why the EC would invite them to discuss the 2020 presidential and legislative elections as it refused to comment on the outcome of the Supreme Court elections.
EC President Jean Mensa, despite legal intervention by the NDC, refused to raise the witness stand to defend the allegations of changes to the December election results.
The deputy secretary general of the NDC added that to prevent the EC from manipulating the numbers in the future, the NDC has taken action against such acts.
“We have decided to move on, now moving on means that reviewing the role and identifying the exact role that the electoral commission played in manipulating the results for this reason, we will have to put in place corrective measures that will prevent the electoral commission to do. the same in the future and that is exactly what we are doing, ”revealed Mr. Otokunor.
