But the Nketiah submarine ensured all three for the Gunners in their first game of the International Cup of Champions at death.

The North London team kicked off its pre-season campaign with a 3-0 win over Colorado Rapids on Tuesday.

However, Unai Emery has chosen a completely different starting lineup to face the German giants.

Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan were all named in attack while the Spaniard opted for more experienced training at Dignity Health Sports Park.

And wearing his new yellow "bruised banana" kit, Arsenal looked lively from the start as he leaned on Bayern.

Aubameyang almost forced goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to make a mistake when the striker tried to dribble the striker on the edge of the penalty area, but he managed to smother the danger before the end of the match .

On the other end, Gunners goaltender Bernd Leno twice denied Bayern with impressive saves against Thomas Muller and Daniels Ontuzans.

However, it was Arsenal who had the best chance of scoring in the first half when Aubameyang ran off his own pitch to settle Ozil – but the new blonde winger could only direct his efforts towards Neuer.

Bayern manager Niko Kovac changed his entire team at the break and, moments after the restart, one of his substitutes made the breakthrough.

Unfortunately for him, Louis Poznanski, aged 18, turned the ball into his own net trying to clear a center of Aubameyang.

Former Arsenal player Serge Gnabry nearly equalized twice but was denied by badistant goalkeeper Emi Martinez.

But he managed to play a key role in Bayern by allowing Lewandowski, who lost the marker, Shkodran Mustafi, to come home after 71 minutes.

However, while the match seemed about to be subject to penalties, Nketiah, 20, stole one of the newspapers.

Just three minutes from the end, he's converted at close range after the excellent work of fellow Tyreece John-Jules and Calum Chambers.

The Gunners will now travel to Charlotte, Carolina, tomorrow for the second of three games against Fiorentina on Saturday.

They conclude their trip to the United States against Real Madrid in Washington DC on Tuesday.
