Eden Hazard should leave Chelsea if he wants, says Maurizio Sarri | Football News

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri said that Eden Hazard is free to leave the club if he wishes.

Sarri wants Hazard to stay, but does not think that the club should oppose the situation of the Belgian if he would prefer to move on.

Hazard has long been badociated with a transfer from the Spanish side of Real Madrid and said in the past that he would be interested in a transfer to the titular holders of the Champions League.

But Chelsea is seeking to renew Hazard's contract, which will expire next season, and the west side of London risks losing it for free by 2020, though it does not extend its current contract.

However, while Sarri said that Chelsea would certainly not separate from the young Callum Hudson-Odoi, who had been the target of Bayern Munich candidacies, the director said that Hazard was entitled to decide on his future.

"Eden's situation is different," Sarri told reporters before the shock of the Premier League on Wednesday in Bournemouth.

"Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go there.

"Of course, I hope the opposite, I hope that he wants to stay here.

"He has the potential to be the best player in Europe right now."

Hazard joined Chelsea in 2012 and enjoyed great success at Stamford Bridge, playing a key role in two Premier League wins and the success of the England Cup last season.

The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals and 10 badists in the Premier League this season, although he played occasionally in a "fake nine" role rather than his usual position in the air.
