Zinedine Zidane signed his first contract since returning to Real Madrid, taking defender Eder Militao to Porto.
Real will pay 43 million pounds to the Portuguese side for Militao who will arrive at Bernabeu in the summer with a six-year contract.
Aged 21, he has long been the focus of a positive look on the radar of Los Blancos. Liverpool and Manchester United have also shown interest.
But Real won the race for the high-end scorer who becomes the first addition to Zidane's team after returning earlier this week.
In a statement posted on its website, the club said: "Eder Gabriel Militao is a new player from Real Madrid until 2025.
"The defender, who will join next season, is 21 years old and plays an international role with the Brazilian team.
"He comes from Porto, where he became one of the main protagonists of the Portuguese league during his first season.
"He has been named best defender of the championship for five consecutive months.
"Militao is a versatile player who plays a central role, even though he also held the right-back position.
"It is distinguished by its speed, positioning and ability to anticipate hazards. In addition, he has a good aerial game.
Militao only arrived in Porto from Sao Paulo in Serie A last summer.
He has signed a five-year contract and has scored three goals in 33 games in all competitions so far.
