Central Regional Minister Kwamena Duncan said on Saturday that the government of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was determined to ensure a fair and equitable distribution of resources for the nation's overall development.
"Let's continue to live in love and pray to the government to work wisely so that everyone gets their share of the national pie."
Mr Duncan said this to a colorful durbar to mark the culmination of the 2019 Aboakyer Festival's celebration week of the leaders and residents of the traditional Effutu Zone in Winneba. It was on the theme: "Supporting our rich cultural heritage – Our youth, our future".
The Twafo Number One Asafo Company was the first to bring the capture of a live deer at 9:50 am sharp to Neenyi Ghartey VII, the supreme chief of the region, who was waiting for the first shot.
He then walked three times over, in keeping with his religious duty to the deity of their ancestral stool, to indicate that the animal had been accepted for the necessary rituals.
The group number two of Dentsifo Asafo had, around 8:45, taken his catch on the land of durbar when the Omanhens, the members of the traditional council and the dignitaries were not present. The group left and did not return.
Historically, it was the fourth time that Dentsifo Group # 2 did not sell its catch to the Paramount Chief, while Twafo Group # 1 also did not send their catches to the durbar stage twice. Mr. Duncan, who was the special guest of honor, congratulated the supreme leader, the traditional council and the festival planning committee for organizing a peaceful celebration. He said the Aboakyer Festival was unique and called on all Effutu citizens to consider, as paramount, the growth and development of the area. He urged them to bury their differences and help the supreme leader to improve, protect and preserve the legacy of their ancestors.
Neenyi Ghartey, for his part, thanked the government for choosing Winneba for the implementation of the first phase of the Landing Beaches project.
He pledged the support and cooperation of the traditional council with the contractor to resolve the initial bottlenecks of the project.
"We will be guided by the sacrifices, unity of purpose, perseverance, persistence, focus and determination of the achievements of Asafo societies to complete what we have begun, to embrace every son and daughter of our country to build Effutuman ".
Among the personalities on the occasion were John B. Ninson, Effutu's City Manager, and DCOP Bediako, Deputy Commander of the Central Regional Police.
