Consumers of NSW and Victoria were warned not to consume the last batch of eggs recalled due to possible salmonella contamination.
Synergy Produce has recalled six and twelve packages of Southern Highland organic eggs whose expiry date is valid until May 9 included, announced Saturday the NSW Food Authority.
Eggs are available for sale in Woolworths NSW and Victoria, IGA NSW and other independent retailers in NSW.
The authority said the recall was due to potential contamination with Salmonella enteritidis, which could cause disease.
The result is a number of recalls related to an outbreak of salmonellosis enteritis. NSW Health said in March that 149 of the state's residents had become ill since its first declaration in May 2018.
"This last farm was firmly on our radar because it is close to farms in which salmonella was recently detected," said Rowan McMonnies, chief executive of Australian Eggs.
Last month, some egg marks were recalled throughout New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia after the detection of salmonella in the Victoria Bridgewater Bridge.
People infected with Salmonella usually develop headaches, fever, stomach cramps, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, says NSW Health.
