The Ashanti Regional Police Command arrested three people for the murder of social activist Ibrahim Mohammed, also known as Kaaka Macho, whose death sparked clashes that resulted in the murder of two others in Ejura .
At least six people were injured to varying degrees after angry youths clashed with a team of police and military in the regional town of Ashanti.

June 26, 2021:
On June 26, 2021, Haruna Mohammed from Ejura lodged a complaint with the Ejura police that the same day at 1:30 a.m., his younger brother Ibrahim Mohammed, 45, was returning home on a motorcycle when he was caught. ambush by an unknown attacker.

Police took photos and recovered the bloodstained club for evidence.
The ad hoc investigation could not lead to any suspect of the crime but a tenant confirmed that she was in her room when she heard the arrival of the victim on her motorbike.
According to her, she later heard a loud scream that brought her out of the room, only to find the victim unconscious in a pool of blood.
She said that with the help of other people, they rushed him to Ejura public hospital. Statements were taken from the complainant and others, but they could not name any suspects.
Police investigators then extended the investigation to the hospital where the victim was received in the emergency department and was treated by the chief medical officer, Dr Mensah Menye.
The deceased was then referred to Komfo Anokye University Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi.
Meanwhile, police had contacted credible informants in the area to provide vital information to aid in the arrest of the perpetrators.
June 27, 2021:
The investigator in the case, Constable General Sam-Sowah Sylvester, left his Ejura base station for Kumasi in order to visit the victim and possibly issue him with a medical form.
Ibrahim Mohammed, after his transfer from the public hospital in Ejura, remained in an unconscious state.
June 28, 2021:
Ibrahim Mohammed, also known as Kaaka Macho, died upon admission to KATH at 1:40 am. His disappearance cast a shadow over things to come.
The youth of Ejura at 6.30 p.m. on June 28, 2021, broke loose. They took to the streets and then besieged the Ejura police station.

With the help of the formed police unit and special weapons and tactics teams, the two suspects were arrested at the Ejura-Sekyedumase District Assembly Revenue Checkpoint to facilitate investigations.
Suspect Ibrahim Issaka, also known as Anyaas, described as a ticket seller, was chased by an angry youth who wanted to lynch him for his alleged involvement in the murder of Kaaka Macho.
Sensing the danger and in an apparent attempt to save his life, Issaka abandoned his motorcycle at the checkpoint.
Police found the checkpoint vandalized by the rampaging youth who stole an unspecified amount of money collected during the day.
Photographs were taken at the scene for evidence and the suspects were sent to Asante Mampong for detention.
June 29, 2021:
The body of the late social activist was handed over to the family for burial in accordance with Islamic custom.
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has deployed men to provide security and move alongside mourners; of which a majority of young people.
Staff from the formed police unit and teams of weapons and special tactics deployed earlier to the community took strategic positions at the Ejura police station and the Ejura Sekyedumase municipal assembly offices. after the police learned that the two establishments could become the target youth.
But all hell broke loose when the angry youths, as they returned from the cemetery after Kaaka’s funeral, started attacking anything in the colors of the nuclear power plant, including the meeting places of the group of young people, Kandahar. Some of them also burned car tires in the middle of the road.
The police team, during this time, could not fire any warning shots, as they were ordered not to do so until the arrival of a reinforced military team.

Three suspects arrested in connection with Kaaka’s murder in Ejura-Sekyedumase made their first appearance in Asokwa District Court in Kumasi.
The pleadings of Issaka Ibrahim, also known as Anyaase, Fuseini Alhassan and Iddi Mohammed, were not heard during their appearance before the tribunal chaired by His Honor, Akua Adu Boahen.
They were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and murder in violation of section 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960.
