The Ashanti regional police command has in its possession a bloodstained club that was allegedly used by the assailants of a social activist in Ejura.
The murder of Ibrahim Mohammed, 45, also known as Kaaka Macho, sparked protests that resulted in two gunshot deaths and injuries to others.
The club, described by police as one of the dangerous tools used by Kaaka’s attacker (s), was picked up at the entrance to the deceased’s home in Ejura, house number 267, block H, on the Dagomba line .
Police were led to the scene by a plaintiff in the case and a brother of Kaaka Macho, one Haruna Mohammed, who pointed the finger at the entrance and the club on June 27, 2021.
The club was recovered for evidence after photographs were taken by police crime scene personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department.
According to police prosecutors, Ibrahim Mohammed’s attackers armed with dangerous tools first attacked his occipital region until he lost consciousness around 1:30 a.m. on June 26, 2021, as he returned home to motorbike.
The club has become an important piece in police investigations.
A source close to the Ashanti Regional Police Command said the club will be subject to forensic analysis as police conduct criminal investigations into the murder of Kaaka Macho, who left behind a wife and five children. .
Even when he lost consciousness, the accused did not stop but continued to beat him until he lost consciousness.
The accused then left him in a pool of blood in this unconscious state and fled.
Kaaka was then sent to the government hospital in Ejura, but was referred to Komfo Anokye University Hospital where he was admitted until his death on June 28, 2021 at 1:40 a.m.
Police investigations have since led to the arrest of three people, including an older brother of the late Kaaka, identified as Iddi Mohammed, also known as Chuburos, a blacksmith.
The others are Fuseini Alhassan, a butcher, and Ibrahim Issaka also known as Anyars, a ticket seller.
The two were arrested on the evening of June 27, 2021 by Ejura police with the help of the Formed Police Unit (FPU) and Special Weapons and Tactics Teams (SWAT) from the Regional Police Prefecture of Ashanti, following police intelligence.
Staff from both units had previously been deployed to protect lives and property after police gathered information about plans by some angry youths in Ejura to burn down both Ejura police station and the offices of the Municipal Assembly of Ejura-Sekyeredumase.
The three suspects have since been taken into custody by the Asokwa District Court chaired by Akua Adu Boahen to reappear on July 22, 2021.
All three were charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and murder under section 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960.
