El Hadji-Diouf warns of Liverpool's chances of winning the Premier League

Former Liverpool striker El Hadji-Diouf has delivered his verdict on the fight for the Premier League title next season, where he doubts the Reds are able to compete.

Jurgen Klopp's team was involved in a fierce title race against Manchester City last season. The Pep Guardiola team ended up winning victorious and finishing with a point over the Reds.

Liverpool then won the Champions League and is considered the city's main competitor in pursuit of next year's title, while Guardiola seeks a third consecutive Premier League title.

However, despite an incredible campaign, former Liverpool striker Diouf warned his former club that he had missed his chance to win the title.

"They were very good last season, I can not believe they could play that way next season, they missed the opportunity to win the title," he told A Bola.

"Each season is different and as they did, it will be impossible to repeat such a good course.

"Their level of performance was incredible, and they lost the championship of England with a point in advance.We must be realistic.

"City is a great rival because they have struggled a lot to win the title.In my opinion, Liverpool will not be able to produce the same level that they produced last season."

His compatriot Sadio Mane and team-mate Mohamed Salah had nicer words, adding, "They are the two best players in the world and their contribution to Liverpool can not be underestimated."

City and Liverpool will resume their rivalry on Sunday, August 4 in the Community Shield, raising the curtain for the 2019-2020 season.
