The Nigerian army has restored its neutrality in the next general election.
The army said it did not belong to any political party, whether in power or power, adding that it was on the ground and baduming its responsibilities in the 2015 presidential election, when an opposition political party, the All Progressives Congress, APC, had won the presidency.
The army spoke through its acting director of defense information, Brig, -Gen. John Agim, at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.
DAILY POST was at the event.
The army also said that she did not listen to disputes between political parties.
Asked if the army was supporting the ruling party to win the February 16 presidential election, brig.-gen. Agim, said: "A political party, the People's Democratic Party led the 2015 elections and an opposition party won the victory. The soldiers were there.
"The military will do the same thing in 2019, which is to ensure that voters move freely to vote. We have already done it before. And if there are problems between political parties, it is not our responsibility and we do not want to talk about it.
"We have deployed our men across the country to ensure that no part of the country allows citizens to vote for security reasons.
"That's what we did and we can badure you that's what we're going to do. No matter what happens between the political parties, it is not what we are here to talk about because the army does not belong to any political party. "
