Parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ayawaso West Wuoguon, John Dumelo finally conceded defeat to outgoing MP Lydia Alhassan in the elections which have just ended.
Speaking to his Facebook page, the actor indicated that while he is not happy with the results of the results, he is ready to put Ghana first and allow peace to reign.
“I may not be happy with the end results or the irregularities that occurred, but above all, I am Ghanaian and will always put the people first ‘Ut omnes onum sint’. So I am ready to help make this riding the biggest, ”he said.
He added: “For Lydia, many said that it was impossible for me to even dream of winning, but the numbers I pulled and you win by a very small margin, especially in such a powerhouse stronghold. nuclear, makes me extremely proud of the whole. campaign.”
Before his concession, John Dumelo had called for a recount of the votes in the constituency.
According to him, there were several irregularities during the December polls.
However, in the late hours of Sunday, Mr Dumelo embraced his plight and made sure to come back stronger.
According to him, in 2004 he contested for secretary of KNUST Queens Hall but lost, however in 2005 he represented the organizing secretary of KNUST, Association of Civil Engineering Students and this round he won.
Once again in 2019, he represented the NDC parliamentary primaries and won. He said losing the December 7 election as a member of the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency will not deter him.
“The truth is, every time I lose I come back stronger because I don’t see it as a loss, I see it as a journey to perfection. It’s only when you are depressed that you appreciate what it takes to get up, ”he said.
The actor-turned-politician expressing his appreciation to the electorate said, “So I want to thank the more than 37,000 people who voted for me in Ayawaso West Wuogon. From the bottom of my heart, I really appreciate you all. To those who did not vote for me, I hope that in the future I can work and prove to you that I am worthy of your vote. “
He also expressed his gratitude to his fellow actors and friends in the creative art industry for supporting him during his campaign.
Nevertheless, John Dumelo in his post also revealed his intention to return to farming and reach out to the needy.
“I will continue to cultivate, to travel through Ghana, to engage people, to help entrepreneurs and to touch the lives of as many Ghanaians as possible; “Facta non verba”.
