Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo applauds the idea of a lawsuit that NDC flag bearer John Mahama dey started in the defeat of the 2020 presidential elections.
Speaking on behalf of Parliament today at the State of the Nation Address (SONA) to mark the end of the first term in power, Akufo-Addo explained that the legal process is the best approach.
According to him, “I see my main opponent of the elections saying. Former President John Dramani Mahama is going to the Supreme Court to ask for intervention and relief because he thinks the elections are in jeopardy.”
“I am good for the nation to choose the legal route instead of pockets of violence.”
President Akufo-Addo won the 2020 election over 51.3% of the total valid votes cast, while John Mahama won 47.7% of the valid votes cast.
But opposition leader John Mahama rejected the results and then filed a petition with the Supreme Court of Ghana.
John Mahama as part of the dey relief urges the Supreme Court of Ghana to ask the Ghanaian Election Commission to hold the second election so that none of the main candidates get more than 50% as required by the constitution.
