The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said its legal team will expose the void of John Mahama’s petition against the Election Commission (EC) and President Akufo-Addo to the Supreme Court.
In a press release issued on Thursday, the ruling party said it remains committed to its flag bearer winning the just concluded election “fairly and fairly” and firmly believes that “the evidence presented by the NDC only reassured the Ghanaian people that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo won the elections.
“The fact of the transparency of the general elections has also been resoundingly affirmed by the myriad of local and international observers who participated in the electoral process,” the party added.
According to the statement signed by NPP Director of Communications Yaw Buaben Asamoa, “John Mahama of the NDC, who bases his petition on alleged errors made by the electoral commission, himself submitted a petition full of errors, including by asking for a second round between him and the Electoral Commission. “
Further, the NPP noted: “It is also unfortunate that even after filing the petition in court, the NDC led by John Dramani Mahama continues to incite its supporters to rush into the streets to cause chaos and anarchy.”
The outgoing party reiterated that its response will show that the NDC has presented no material evidence of value to the court to back up its patently false claims regarding the results of the 2020 presidential election.
“We are absolutely convinced that the facts and figures presented to the tribunal, even by the NDC, will very easily, transparently and unmistakably reaffirm the will expressed by the voting public that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo won the 2020 The presidential election “one-touch” and convincingly, “the party said.
Parts of the statement also said: “They lied to their supporters that they won and started to falsely refer to John Dramani Mahama as the elected president. Now they have backed down, contenting themselves in vain with a second round which they themselves know will not happen.
“They have attempted and continue to use lies, threats, violence and intimidation to desperately seek to override the overt will of the people freely expressed on December 7, 2020.”
The NPP also used the platform to call on John Dramani Mahama to withdraw alleged inciting statements made to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) after his defeat.
“It is very irresponsible of John Dramani Mahama to initiate the legal process while urging his supporters to continue the violent protests which have threatened the security and peace of Ghanaians and have caused Ghanaians to live in fear and fear. needless panic in recent weeks, ”the party added.
National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday filed a petition challenging the presidential results of the 2020 general election which has just ended, as the Election Commission said.
