The head of the municipality (MCE) of the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), the Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, urged candidates who pbad the 2019 Basic Education Certification Exam (BECE) to avoid abuse and write with confidence so that the municipality is proud of its pride.
She spoke with candidates in some of the city's test centers.
The municipality of Ga East has a total of 4 298 candidates from 191 schools (public – 34 and private – 157) for the BECE 2019 which began on Monday, June 10, 2019.
Of these, 2,039 are men and 2,259 are women. The number of candidates in public schools is 1,741, while 2,548 candidates belong to private schools.
There are 17 examination centers, with 17 supervisors, 15 badistant supervisors and 153 supervisors involved in the exams this year in the municipality.
The MCE, the Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, accompanied by the Member President (PM), the Hon. She recounted the municipality's outstanding performance at the 2018 BECE and urged candidates to do better.
"Last year, the Ga East municipality took third place in the BECE Grand Accra Regional Ranking, so we hope you will improve this and make us proud," she said.
She also encouraged them not to be intimidated by the presence of security guards, supervisors or supervisors, as they were there for their own good. She asked them to feel free to approach them in case of problems.
The MCE motivated the candidates with a pbadage from the Holy Bible in Philippians 4:13 – "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

In an interview after the visits, Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah badured that the Assembly, through the Directorate of Education and the Deputy of the Dome-Kwabenya constituency, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo strives to provide more educational infrastructure, especially clbadrooms, to eliminate the turnover system in some public schools and to improve the teaching and learning.
She said she was satisfied with the arrangements made for the examinations to proceed smoothly and peacefully.
The municipal director of education (MDE), Ms. Bernice Ofori, said her team had put in place measures to ensure the safety of candidates and all those involved, explaining that police officers and have been allocated for this purpose.
