The call was launched by coalition president Kofi Asare
The Coalition for the Ghana Education Campaign (GNECC) is calling on the government to phase out the dual-track system currently in place as part of the high school free policy.
The call was launched by coalition president Kofi Asare at the launch of the Global Action Week for Education in Accra on Wednesday (April 24th).
Mr Asare argued that the implementation of the dual track system had a negative impact on the quality of secondary education in the country.
"Every possible effort must be made by the government to ensure that we do not enter the double track next year. We will only increase the gap between the results of quality learning between public and private institutions.
"That's why we're going to quickly eliminate the double-lane system, so we can have a system to reduce the size of clbades and a more flexible system that allows teachers to engage students in discussions and learning, "he said.
Other speakers at the event urged the government to improve the working conditions of teachers, to make technical and vocational education more attractive to young people and to address gender disparities.
He further urged the government to take pragmatic measures to combat inequalities and exclusion in education in order to improve learning outcomes and to achieve the goals of education and training. sustainable development goals in education.
The dual track system was introduced last September to cope with the increasing number of registrations in public SHS across the country.
The implementation of the policy was fraught with infrastructure challenges, but the government badured the stakeholders of its commitment to meet all the challenges for the policy to work.
