Esiama (W / R), 02 April,
GNA – The Executive Committee of the District of Ellembelle New
The Patriotic Party (NPP) of the Western Region asked the government to
punish Mr. Kwasi Bonzo, District Director General for the region, for abandoning
his official bungalow since 2017.

The group claimed
since his appointment, he has been shuttling between Takoradi and his workplace
in the Assembly.

In a petition
addressed to the Chief of Staff and the Minister of Local Government, with a copy to
media, the district officials accused the DCE of renting an apartment in
Takoradi and neglect his official bungalow, which was built by the Assembly
for seated DCEs.

"The WFD, since
his appointment in 2017, was housed in a rented apartment in Takoradi
(about 75 km from the district capital) at the expense of the Assembly by neglecting
an official bungalow, which had been occupied by the previous district chief
Regional leaders ".

They lamented that
"A huge amount has been spent to renovate the official residence
immediately he resumed his duties with the hope that he will live there for
effectively perform his official duties. He's just coming to work and people
will always meet his absence, thereby creating discomfort for the entire population
which stifles the development of the district ".

They stressed that
"The main opinion leaders of the district could not understand why the WFD had
abandoned his official bungalow that the Assembly badigned him and instead
decided to use the meager funds of the Assembly to rent an apartment
Takoradi and complained individually to the constituency executive
Committee".

According to
Constituency leaders, the WFD also did not follow the party structures
and on March 3, 2019, convened a meeting to meet with all polling stations
leaders to attack the party's national leaders.

"The DCE without
use of party structures in the constituency, convened at a meeting of the
at the polling stations in the Esiama area on March 3, 2019. In the said
meeting, the WFD collected mobile phones from all polling stations
Senior executives and chastised national cadres.

So they have
called on the government to take the appropriate sanctions against the WFD by adding
that the failure to act will require them not to consider it as their DCE for the
area.

All attempts to get Mr.
Bonzo to answer these allegations has turned out vortex.
