Apparently, Elon Musk got Copper play on one of the dashboards of his car. File this one under "did not stop thinking if they should" for now, but it's possible.
That's what a podcast with Ryan McCaffrey from IGN, published today (thank you, The Verge) says. Musk told McCaffrey that the Unity engine was running on the Tesla platform, which is driving the ultra-hard running game of 2017. Musk reconfirmed that Copper is "a cool game, it's incredibly difficult."
Musk pointed out last year, when the Atari video game ports were included as Easter eggs in a Tesla software update, that the games could not be played when the car is parked. Tesla cars have been involved in two fatal accidents in which their power-badisted autopilot functions have been activated. So the capacity can be completely separated from the driving, and the car can have other amenities dedicated to a park and relax experience, but it is certain that someone will link them up and drive them crazy.
McCaffrey then contacted a developer at MDHR Studio, who confirmed that Tesla had asked them to bring the game. Copper The Tesla operating system requires a USB controller (no touch screen controls) and only the Inkwell Isle One section is readable due to storage constraints. But the game will come to Tesla owners later this summer.
The storage problem, said Musk, could force users to rotate their game selections by removing old ones to make way for new downloads. Tesla owners must for the moment find out for themselves where Atari games are hidden, but they can play them with the controls of the touch screen and the steering wheel. Musk told McCaffrey that there was "a beach buggy driving game" that was also tested, in Unity, on the car as well.
