Elon Musk releases Tesla's "cyberpunk" electric van image

Elon Musk has released the first teaser image of Tesla's electric van, which he describes as a "cyberpunk" truck inspired by Blade Runner.

As we announced earlier today, Tesla unveiled last night "one last thing", but everyone missed it.

Tesla would have displayed an image on the main screen as everyone was walking to the back of the room for Model Y trials.

Rumor has it that it would act as a teaser for the electric pickup, which Musk has now confirmed.

Last year, Musk confused many when he said the Tesla pickup would have a "really futuristic design, like the cyberpunk Blade Runner."

Today, he pointed out that Tesla was playing the latest Blade Runner titles after the release of the Model Y webcast and that he was unveiling the Tesla Pickup presentation image:

About a minute later, we released a teaser photo of the Tesla cyberpunk truck pic.twitter.com/hLsGsdyuGA

This is the first official image of the Tesla pickup truck, with the exception of a previous version of the Tesla Semi, which has never been clearly defined for production.

This new truck is something that Tesla really wants to do and unveil later this year.

Here is another version of the picture with a modified exposure to get a better idea of the shape:

Musk has already stated that the vehicle was his favorite among all of Tesla's current new vehicle programs, but he thought it "could be too futuristic for most people."

Aside from the design, which we are getting to know better with this image, we already know a lot about the specs of the Tesla pickup after Musk asked for suggestions on the developing vehicle and shared some of the targeted specs.

He mentioned the fact that it's a "big truck" with 6 seats with an option for a range of 400 to 500 miles, "maybe higher."

It should be unveiled later this year, but the current production schedule is still unclear.

Electrek's Take

To be honest, I do not really know what I'm looking at. Is it the bed of the truck? Is the front-end? I am not sure.

Please enlighten me in the comment section below.

It may be a bad teaser, but I'm starting to understand Elon's comment that the Tesla truck may be too futuristic for most people.

That said, it looks like they're still doing it. As for the supply of quality products, Tesla has a very good track record.

We will see…
