A body was seen in the wreckage of a Cardiff attacker's plane, Emiliano Sala, and pilot David Ibbotson's flight, according to the Air Accident Investigation Branch.
On Sunday night, the investigators said they located the wreck on the seabed of the English Channel and informed the families of the pbadengers on board.
Sala had just completed his move to Cardiff in the amount of £ 15 million when the plane carrying him, as well as the Ibbotson pilot, disappeared on January 21 over the English Channel, after leaving Nantes for the Welsh capital.
"The ROV conducted a new search of the area at night, but did not identify any additional wreckage," said AAIB in a statement.
"Tragically, in the video footage of the ROV, an occupant is visible in the middle of the wreck. The AAIB is now considering the next steps, in consultation with the families of the pilot and the pbadenger, as well as the police."
After rescuers and Guernsey police canceled the official search, Sala's sister Romina organized a GoFundMe page that allowed for private search and finding the plane.
The AAIB said that she had now concluded that it was the missing Piper Malibu aircraft, publishing an underwater image of the hijacked plane with a part of its registration number – N264DB – clearly visible.
"The image shows the left rear fuselage, including a part of the aircraft registration," said the AAIB. "We intend to issue an interim report in the month following the accident.
