The City of Cardiff submitted its evidence to Fifa in their dispute with Nantes over the £ 15 million transfer fee for Emiliano Sala.

Until now, Cardiff has refused to pay a provisional payment at the expense of the Argentine striker who died in a plane crash in January.

The Premier League club claims that the deal was not legally binding.

Nantes sent the dispute back to FIFA, which granted an extension to Monday to allow clubs to present their evidence.

Now, Cardiff has confirmed that they have met the deadlines.

A statement from the club said: "Cardiff City FC has submitted today its response to the complaint filed by FC Nantes on February 26, 2019."

Recently, Cardiff proposed direct negotiations in Nantes to settle the dispute, after FIFA President Gianni Infantino said he hoped the clubs could reach an agreement.

But now, the case seems to have to be settled by Fifa.

Cardiff will say that Nantes' conditions for entering into the deal are not met and that Sala is not registered as a Premier League player.

Nantes claims that the required documents were completed and that they were fully compliant with Fifa's regulations.

A FIFA spokesman told BBC Sport Wales earlier, "The procedure is under way, so you need to understand that we can not say more at this point, and any potential updates will be communicated later."
