The Guernsey police on Thursday canceled the search for the missing attacker in the city of Cardiff, his former club having asked them to reconsider his decision

FC Nantes has joined the family of Emiliano Sala to urge the police to reconsider its decision to stop the search for the missing striker in the city of Cardiff.

Search and rescue efforts resumed for a third day early Thursday after the Piper Malibu plane with Sala and pilot David Ibbotson aboard were reported missing Monday heading for the Welsh capital.

But the Guernsey police confirmed that after a large-scale operation covering approximately 1,700 km 2 around the Channel Islands, no trace of the aircraft, pilot or pbadenger had been recovered.

Harbor Master David Barker said in a statement that the search would cease because "the chances of survival at this stage are extremely low".

However, Sala's family thinks it's too early to stop looking and was then supported by a statement made on social networks by Nantes, the former Sala club, which had urged research to continue for the good of his loved ones.

"FC Nantes has learned the abandonment of the search for the missing plane. They can not stop," the club said in a statement posted on its official Twitter account.

"The club and its supporters are demanding that the search for Emiliano Sala continue, both for his family and his family.

Sala's family expressed confusion over the decision to halt the search and expressed the hope that the authorities would put themselves in their shoes.

"I'm very confused," Sala's sister Romina told ESPN. "The only thing I want is that my brother and the pilot be found.

"We ask them [the authorities] to put ourselves in our place, in the hearts of loved ones.

"Please, do not stop looking, I know that they are alive and waiting for us."

Sala's father, Horacio, also urged the Guernsey police to reconsider his decision.

"We are asking to keep looking for him, please," he told TyC Sports.

"We can not believe that they cancel the search. [they] please continue the search.

"It's impossible for a plane to go away and there's no trace left of anything."

Cardiff President Mehmet Dalman said that Sala had made his travel arrangements, while Mark McKay – an agent involved in negotiating the transfer of the player to the Bluebirds – confirmed that he had organized the flight but denied that the missing plane belonged to him or his family.

Nantes supporters have been watching in the honor of the striker in the French city, while their Coupe de France match against the SSG Entente was postponed.
