Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, Minister of Employment and Labor Relations, is reportedly responding to treatment at Bono Regional Hospital after his car collided head-on with a dump truck on Saturday.

Mr Baffour-Awuah, who is an MP for Sunyani West, was returning from a funeral in Odumase and was on his way to Nsoatre when his driver mistakenly passed a vehicle, resulting in the crash.

The minister, according to a Citi FM report, was in the company of Sunyani West constituency New Patriotic Party (NPP) chairman Kusi Boadum and other party members when the accident occurred.

Seth Asare Bediako, regional communications director for the Bono nuclear power plant, told Citi FM that Ignatius Baffour-Awuah would soon be removed from his post.

He explained: “We went to a number of funerals yesterday. [Saturday], and the last was Nsaotre, his hometown. On the way, joining his entourage, we were all in the car, but unfortunately an articulator truck made a false negotiation without using the traffic indicators, which put the Minister’s driver in an embarrassment. He had no choice but to crash into the truck. So they were injured, and as we speak, they are all admitted to Sunyani government hospital, responding to treatment. “

“This [Sunday], we visited the minister and other ministers. Three of them were released from the hospital. But as we speak, the minister is still in admissions as well as the president of the constituency. We spoke to the doctor there, and he assured us that they had completed the tests, and I hope he comes out soon, ”he added.
