Entenmann's soft baked cookies & # 39; s Little Bites are being recalled because customers have complained of finding pieces of blue plastic on these baked goods, the company announced Thursday.
No injuries have been reported, but the plastic, which has not been cooked in the biscuits, presents a choking hazard, according to the US Food and Drug Administration.
Bimbo Bakeries USA Inc., the Pennsylvania-based company and owner of Entenmann's, said that all packaging of the "5 Mini Chocolate Chip" variety was being removed from store shelves.
"We have received a small number of consumer reports, taken immediate steps to investigate and solved the manufacturing problem," the company told CNN in an email.
The recalled cookies contain a single UPC code (located in the lower right corner at the back of the box): 7203002378. Contaminated cookies have been sold in most states and Washington, DC.
The states where the contaminated cookies were not sold are: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
If you bought a box of recalled cookies, do not eat them, said the company. Instead, return them to the point of purchase for a full refund or call 1-800-984-0989 for more information.
No other Entenmann product, including the Little Bites muffins, is as stained since Little Bites cookies are made on a dedicated production line, the company said.
Bimbo Bakeries USA is present at more than 50 locations and distributes its commercial bakery products throughout the United States. Bimbo acquired George Weston Ltd. and its subsidiary Entenmann & # 39; s in 2002.
