The former minister said the recently launched Marine Drive project had been awarded to the Consortium's architecture office and that she was surprised to find that the contract had subsequently been awarded to Sir David Adjaye.
She therefore asked the government to clearly indicate how the contract was awarded to the foreign company.
"I am not aware of Sir Adjaye's process for obtaining this contract, but I know that the consortium has gone through a competitive bidding process. It's unfortunate, because when I was minister, we tried to empower local businesses. "
The former minister also criticized the current government by saying that during its mandate, concerted efforts had been made to encourage Ghanaian companies to use their services.
She concluded that regardless of party affiliation, it was unfortunate that a Ghanaian company had been disadvantaged in favor of a foreign company.
"We are not against foreigners, but it is unfortunate that a local company wins a contract and is kidnapped."
