Enugu State Command Police Commissioner Abubakar Lawal ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, to immediately initiate an investigation and disciplinary action against a member of the Command caught on video viral involving a young woman in an altercation and physical assault.
In the video circulating on social media, the officer was filmed at a checkpoint in Obeagu Awkunanaw, along Agbani Road, on September 8, engaging in unprofessional driving.
The CP, while condemning the conduct of the police officer, warned the command staff against unprofessional conduct and a lack of respect for the fundamental human rights of citizens in the exercise of their functions.

He added that anyone found to be in default would face maximum disciplinary sanctions.
According to a statement by command spokesperson Daniel Ndukwe, said lady and eyewitnesses to the incident were ordered to surrender to SCID, Enugu, to voluntarily make their statements, “in order to facilitate a careful and expeditious conclusion of investigation “.
The CP has also directed residents of the state to promptly report officers from the commanding officer who have behaved unprofessionally to the nearest police station for punishment.
