EPA announced that the FCA would recall that 862,000 US vehicles did not meet emission standards

The US Environmental Protection Agency has stated that Fiat Chrysler has agreed to voluntarily recall 862,520 vehicles after an emissions investigation and use tests have shown they do not meet federal standards.

Affected models include the 2011-2016 Dodge Journey, the 2011-2014 Chrysler 200, the 2011-2012 Dodge Caliber and the 2011-2016 Jeep Compbad / Patriot. The reminders will be divided into four phases, older models first getting the solution.

The automaker has called this recall a "routine" in the new policies of the federal agency and said that "this campaign has no impact on safety". According to the CNBC, the problem would have been detected during routine tests in use.

"Due to the large number of vehicles involved and the need to provide replacement components – particularly to the catalytic converter of the vehicle – this recall will be implemented in phases over the course of the 2019 calendar year, starting with the oldest vehicles first, "says the EPA.

The federal agency announced in a press release on Thursday, March 14, that it would continue research on other FCA models. The affected owners will receive a notification as soon as the automaker based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, has the necessary parts to perform the free repairs.
