The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has canceled the environmental permit for the China Fujian Fishing Limited plant located in Asutsuare in the Greater Accra region.

The EPA also asked the public to inform the Agency of any "non-compliance action taken by the company".

Chinese fish farm closed indefinitely after the mbadive death of tilapia

The company suspended its activities for an indefinite period in October 2018 after mbadive quantities of fish were found dead on the site.

This was in accordance with an order from the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture.

In October 2018, about 40 tonnes of unhealthy tilapia were destroyed by the Asutsuare Fisheries Commission in Shai Osudoku District of Greater Accra Region.

Farm leaders denied allegations that the tilapias were imported from China, claiming that they had been raised locally.

They suspected fish poisoning at the time.
