Update on dengue fever

For the year 2018, 51659 and in March 2019, 20541 suspected cases of dengue fever have been reported to the Epidemiology Unit of the entire island. Latest trends in diseases,

About 41.4% of dengue cases were reported in Western Province. The highest number of dengue cases were reported during the 29th week of 2017.

The outbreak situation in 2017 justified the environmental elimination of many mosquito breeding sites, as well as strengthening the education of patients on the management of fever, which resulted in relatively low mortality.

It is very important to consult a doctor in case of fever and to carry out the relevant laboratory examinations at least on the third day of the illness.
