The first league win outside Newcastle since December ended a run of four games without a win, which threatened to drag them into the fight for relegation.

The last time Leicester won a Premier League match in which they were tied, it was in October 2015 against West Bromwich Albion.

Perez was denied by a precise Schmeichel stop in a frantic finale. Leicester striker Jamie Vardy struggled to penetrate Newcastle's well-trained defense and, when he finally saw the goal, he made a mistake when he lifted his shot from Yuri Tielemans' pbad.
The last chance for a Leicester leveler came and went in stoppage time when Tielemans was calling in vain for a penalty after going to the ground when a center had reached it at the far post.
