He refuted claims that the layoffs or terminations of the persons concerned were based on trumped-up charges and that the University had not followed them in advance.
However, he stated that "the Council wishes to add that this examination will be done on a case by case basis".
He also stated that the Governing Council and management had been guided by Articles 23 and 296 of the 1992 Constitution, which related to fairness and good discretion in the functioning of public institutions, and which had influenced all their administrative decisions.
The Chair of the Board also revealed that the Board is establishing a Board of Inquiry to understand the circumstances and reasons for the unrest at the university and to propose ways to prevent such unfortunate incidents. in the future.
