Twelve Ghanaians from different sectors have been named among the 100 most influential people of African descent (MIPAD) under the age of 40, a global list of 100 identifying the most successful people of African descent in the world, badociating those in the diaspora with their counterparts in Africa.

The MIPAD Under 40 Recognition is a global civil society initiative in support of the UN International Decade for People of African Descent. It recognizes young people in four categories: politics and governance, business and entrepreneurship, media and culture and religions and humanitarians.

Among Ghanaian youth who have been announced in the 2019 category of global recognition are: spokesman for the president, Eugene Arhin, in the policy and governance category, and Papa-Wbada Chiefy Nduom of the Ndoum Group; Vice President of Marketing at DoorDash, Kofi Amoo-Gottfried and Akua Gyekye, Public Policy Officer for Africa in the Business and Entrepreneurship category.

The actress Juliet Ibrahim is also present in the category Media & Culture, announced on the sidelines of the BET Awards in Los Angeles in June. Face2Face Africa co-founder Sandra Appiah; Founder of the African Fashion Fund, Roberta Annan; Founder and Managing Director of Avance Media, Prince Akpah; The World Youth Ambbadador for Diaspora Affairs in the President's Office, Jake Obeng-Bediako; Core Hospitality CEO Anita Ottenhof and Beats by Dre Director of Music Marketing Nana Adu Sarfo.

Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Virgil Abloh, Rebecca Acheampong, Nana Appiah Mensah, Kow Essuman, Ashifi Gogo, Afua Osei and Peace Hyde are some of the notable Ghanaian youth who have received this honor in the past.

According to Kamil Olufowobi, CEO of MIPAD, the media and culture recognition of MIPAD in 2019 would not be complete without a special prize of praise for Ghana's historic marketing campaign, Year of Return – Ghana 2019 , targeting the Diaspora on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his birthday. the first African slaves arrived in the United States on their way home to Ghana in 2019. All the honored and past members of MIPAD of Ghanaian origin are celebrated in this group.

The laureates should be rewarded on the sidelines of the 2019 United Nations General Assembly in New York.
