The former wife of Eugene Arhin, Acting Director of Communications at the Presidency, Jubilee House Gloria Assan Arhin has turned around on allegations that her husband was physically abused during their marriage.
In her initial application to the court, she alleged that the respondent had abused her verbally, emotionally, psychologically and physically in the presence of their children.
However, she withdrew the allegation of physical abuse in her amended divorce petition following Eugene Arhin’s request to prove such allegations in her response to the petition.
In addition to removing the allegations of physical abuse, she also removed a list of properties that she claimed belonged to her husband.
In her first petition, she indicated that Eugene Arhin owned a 5-bedroom residential property in East Legon which was supposed to be the couple’s matrimonial home, a 4-story building with 16 separate apartments in Bubuashie, Accra, one floor in progress. building comprising 16 separate apartments in Tuba, Kasoa, one storey building comprising apartments located in Teshie, Accra, residential property located in AU village in La, Accra, other houses in Senya Bereku in the area Central and Ada Foah in the Greater Accra Region and Ford F150 vehicle.
But, however, she changed her initial claims to state that the unfinished 5-bedroom house is in Santorini, in the Kpone Katamanso district.
Gloria Assan Arhin, married to her husband since 2016, has filed for divorce.
Gloria Assan Arhin alleged that her husband had left home in the past two years and resorted to extramarital affairs with a chantel Kudjawu (Gertrude Gbajo).
“Before leaving the house the respondent sometimes spent the night with these ladies and also did not sleep in the house and when I confronted him he yelled at me and sometimes verbally, emotionally assaulted me. , psychologically and physically. in the presence of our children. The respondent told me in one of his verbal abuse that I was not female enough for him, which is why he is involved with these other women. The petitions declared
Ms. Gloria Assan Arhin further noted that she had to do additional side work to raise enough funds for the upkeep and management of the house when their marriage faced financial problems at the start.
But soon after becoming director of communications in the presidency, the petitioner said her husband began to behave in very unusual ways, claiming he was no longer interested in marriage. She also said that all efforts by the parties and their families for an amicable resolution have all failed.
Ms Arhin also alleged that ‘the defendant informed the petitioner that he had to travel to attend a course at George Town University, a claim which the defendant knew very well to be false and was only using it as a means of travel out of the country for time with one of his mistresses and his other child.
“On one occasion after the Respondent came to pick up the children to spend time with them, the older child informed me that while they were with the Respondent there was another lady in the room. house named Grace that the respondent continually embraced in their presence, ”Ms. Arhin said in the petition to the High Court.
Mrs. Gloria Assan Arhin, who is a mother of three, asked the court to dissolve the marriage, order her husband to give up three of his real estate and pay him GHS 2 million as compensation, among others.
Eugene Arhin, in his response, denied most of the allegations, while admitting that he wanted to leave the marriage.
On the question of properties, he admitted to owning an unfinished 5-bedroom house in Santor in the Kpone Katamanso district and a barber shop in Teshie, which is operated by his mother to help him make ends meet.
He also denied having any property in Senya Bereku or AU Village as well as Ada Foah and Teshie as initially submitted by his wife.
