A UK Euromillions ticker holder won the jackpot of over £ 71 million.

Friday's winning numbers were 03, 15, 24, 42 and 46, with Lucky Star numbers 09 and 12.

The National Lottery urged players from all over the country to check if their tickets had a chance to claim the prize of £ 71,057,439.

This is the latest in a series of big wins in the UK lottery in recent years, including the fourth biggest draw of the New Year draw this year.

Then, a couple from Northern Ireland – Frances and Patrick Connolly – won the £ 115 million prize.

Legend

Frances and Patrick Connolly announced that they would share their 115 million euro win with 50 people

A month earlier, builder Andrew Clark of Boston, Lincolnshire, had been revealed winner of a $ 76 million jackpot.

He found his ticket in the visor of his van six weeks after the draw.

The UK's largest EuroMillions prize in 2018 – and the third-biggest all-time gain – was £ 121m for an anonymous ticket holder in April.

The biggest lottery lottery in the history of the UK was the £ 161 million jackpot won by Chris and Colin Weir, a North Ayrshire couple, in 2011.

Euromillions is played in nine countries – the United Kingdom, Austria, Belgium, France, the Republic of Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland – with holders of tickets trying to win a share of the same jackpot.

British residents will still be able to play after Brexit.
