European markets should open lower as investors wait for new data

The FTSE is expected to open 21 points lower at 7,450, while the German DAX is expected to open 29 points lower at 12,123 and the French CAC at 14.55, according to IG.

Investors worried about the slowdown in the European economy are waiting for Thursday's publication of the Purchasing Managers' Indices (PMI), which will be an indicator of the economic situation of the euro area.

The widest index of MSCI Asia Pacific shares out of Japan remained unchanged on Thursday. Japan's Nikkei declined about 0.6 percent after data showed that Japan's new export orders dropped to their lowest level in almost three years.

Wall Street shares ended Wednesday's session in negative territory after health sector stocks retreated, surpbading the optimistic economic data of the United States and China.

Foreign currency investors will also monitor monthly retail sales data from the United Kingdom and the United States, which could affect British pound and greenback prices when they are released on Thursday.
