Former Derby County striker calls Argentine coach "disrespectful" for spying on opponents' training

Dean Saunders called Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa "disrespectful" and "out of action" for "spying" on his opponents' training sessions.

The so-called "Spygate" incident was one of the most discussed stories this week, after Bielsa admitted to sending a scout to monitor the Derby County train in anticipation of last Friday's championship clash.

The Argentine coach had to face a huge reaction to his actions as the EFL launched a "formal investigation" into the incident.

But Bielsa surprised everyone by revealing Wednesday that Leeds had watched ALL of his opponents' training sessions this season.

In an impromptu press conference, Bielsa said his goal was to "facilitate the task of the EFL investigation" by detailing the extent of his preparation before the match and revealing his extremely detailed badysis of each team of the championship.

Bielsa admitted to having spied on opposing teams throughout his coaching career, claiming that he felt that he was not doing his job properly if he did not do it.

However, the former football coach and former Derby striker Saunders is not impressed by the veteran's antics and claims that this goes against the "code of conduct" in England.

He also said that the level of badysis of Bielsa was not new and that all managers were doing the same thing, even those who were not in the league.

"Everyone is doing it – which he showed everyone yesterday, all the managers are doing it," Saunders said at Alan Brazil Sports' breakfast on Thursday.

"Sam Allardyce will ask five or six badysts to do all this in his place, he will sit and condense everything and try to cover everything.

"Even clubs that are not part of the league are going into these details.

"We do not go to the training ground and do not watch the training sessions. There is a code of conduct.

"You can not stay on the other side of the fence looking at the opposition train, you can not really do that.

"It's not illegal, but it's not done.

"It's disrespectful. It's out of order.

"He's fine, the manager. Bielsa is doing well in Leeds and the team is doing well.

"I just think it messed it up a bit."
