Even more teens have been hospitalized for a serious lung disease linked to a recent vape, the Wisconsin Health Services Department said Friday.
Health officials reported receiving 11 cases of hospitalized adolescents and young adults. This is an increase
among the eight cases reported last Thursday.
Seven other cases are currently the subject of an "additional investigation", bringing to 18 the number of possible hospitalizations related to vaping.
"We are currently interviewing patients, all of whom have reported recent vaping. Our disease investigators continue to gather information on the types of sprays used in the hope of finding a common bond, "said Andrea Palm, secretary of the Department of Health Services.

Patients in Milwaukee, Waukesha and Winnebago counties experienced coughing, shortness of breath and fatigue before being admitted to the children's hospital. Some patients have also reported fever, anorexia, pleuritic chest pain, nausea and diarrhea.
Some patients had progressive respiratory disease requiring the use of endotracheal intubation.
Other counties with confirmed cases are Door, Racine, Walworth and Dodge.
The Ministry of Health is still studying the exact cause of these diseases. The name and type of spray device used by each teenager was not known; However, interviews with patients are underway.
