Everton hopes Chelsea's young defenseman, Fikayo Tomori, will take over.
According to a report released Tuesday morning, the Toffees are planning to move to Tomori after missing Chelsea teammate Kurt Zouma.
The 21-year-old was also loaned last year to Derby County, where he was led by new Blues boss Frank Lampard.
Tomori has aroused the interest of the Bundesliga, Portugal and Premier League teams.
Chelsea wants Zouma to be part of his senior team and Lampard confirmed that it was the case earlier this month.
Everton plans to make a move for Tomori instead, although it is believed that the change is not yet advanced.
