Scotland winger Claire Emslie turned her loan spell with the Everton Women’s Super League into a more permanent one, after signing an 18-month contract with the club until June 2022.
The 26-year-old former Manchester City, Bristol City and Hibernian player was loaned to Everton by United States team Orlando Pride in the first half of the season.
Her move to Merseyside saw her reunite with Everton boss Willie Kirk, who she previously played with at Hibs and Bristol City.
“I believe in the club’s plans and ambitions and want to be part of the team to achieve those goals,” Emslie told the club’s website. “I am so happy and excited to be signing permanently.”
Kirk, whose team reached the 2020 Women’s FA Cup final, added: “Making Claire’s stay at the club permanent is a really important signing for us. It’s no secret that I’ve signed her on several occasions, which proves my confidence in her.
“She’s a very, very hard worker, has two feet, creative and versatile enough to be able to play anywhere in the top three. I have no doubts that she will be the key signature for us in the long term. “
Pacey, and with an eye for long-distance goal, Emslie has scored twice in seven appearances so far this season. She was also on loan with the Australian side of Melbourne City last quarter, while she was on the Orlando books.
Everton are fifth in the WSL, six points behind the Women’s Champions League spots after nine league games this season.
They will return to action after the winter break with a home game against league leaders Manchester United on Sunday January 10, before hosting Kirk and Emslie’s former club Bristol City on January 17 and then surrendering in Birmingham City for their match in hand on January 20. .
